My experience was disappointing, especially given the reviews where they did a virtual tour of the house to help. I had almost no contact with the company after I paid the deposit, despite leaving voice mail and email trying to confirm the date and time. I felt as though I was treated like I was lying when the date verbally given to me was different than the contract date. (my oversight) however, I did try to contact them and I also sent an email 2 weeks ago attempting to resolve my disappointment and understand what happened. This was my second time using this company, the first was 3 years ago and care was given to paint and doorways with door guards etc back then but not this time. This time if I wasn't present to have items put in the room it was all going to be left in one room and some of my belongings were left in pieces. I would say if you are a single person moving this is not your company.
We hired Local Movers this past June to help move larger furniture items from our house into a storage garage because they gave us the most competitive price out of three companies we contacted. But we should have known better, you get what you paid for. While the two young guys they sent were nice enough, I’m not sure if they were professionals. They were college-aged kids, maybe doing a summer job moving furniture. I knew we were their second job of the day, and it was also raining. Perhaps that may explain why they might have wanted to quickly unload. When we inspected our furniture they had unloaded into the storage unit, several items had been damaged from the move. We are talking going from a house to their van to travel from Cumberland to Lewiston—not a long trip. Their carelessness resulted in several scratches on a brand new leather couch, scratched table corners, ripped mattress cover bags resulting in our mattress and boxspring getting dirty from the move, and several broken areas on a desk where they took apart the legs to move it and then over-tightened the screws back on causing the wood to splinter and crack. Completely unacceptable. We contacted Local Movers with our complaint backed up with pictures but still have not heard back. Figures. Go with another company.
