Firefighters on the Move

2 stars because of the polite and professional employees. Zero stars to the company. We moved from a 1200 sqft 3 bedroom home and was quoted $800-$900. My total was $1350. Why even give a bid if you are that bad at it.no fault of the movers just the bidder who is horrible at his job. Will use a different company next time.

I recently moved to an apartment from a house. We used Firefighters On The Move that we have used on two other occasions - the most recent one was about six months ago. I moved from an apartment to a house, back to the same apartment complex. I was quoted a price of between $400-450 over the phone because I had used them previously. He knew what I had so he was able to quote over the phone. $450 was what I paid last time they moved me. When it came time to pay the bill it was $805 - same stuff, same distance and even one less flight of stairs! I moved to the exact apartment complex I lived in the last time they moved me. When I questioned him about it, he said he had to call the owner, Kevin, the one that quoted me the price and actually moved me the last time. When I questioned Kevin about why the bill was so much more than what he had told me it would be, he was incredibly rude and verbally abusive. He yelled at me and ended the conversation by telling me to never f**ing call him again! In hindsight, I should have gotten the bid in writing but didn't think I had to because I hadn't the previous times and his quote was always right on with the actual bill. I had the same furniture and moving to the same exact apartment that I lived in last time. The onsite supervisor said their hourly rate had gone up and fuel costs were higher now too. I'm pretty sure gas has gone way down so I'm not sure where he got that idea. While I understood that prices go up, he could not explain why they had doubled since my last move less than a six months ago - as well as from a week or so earlier when I had reserved their services for the move. The sad part for Kevin is that we would have used him again when I buy a house. They have lost mine and my family’s business for sure. I ended up paying 660.00 - a bit of a discount given but still way more than what I was quoted. Had he been nice and worked it out in a professional manner I would have considered using them again, but he was very rude and verbally abusive. I would recommend anyone considering a move to steer clear of this company! Very unprofessional and I would NOT trust them ever again.
